Frequently Asked Questions

I’ve never talked to anyone about my problems before. It’s not customary for me. Does this make me weak?

It does not make you weak; it’s actually a sign of strength and courage. Everyone at some point in their (our) lives may need additional support outside of what a family member or friend can provide. My goal is to help you identify any areas of struggles that you are facing along with thoughts/behaviors associated with those problems that are affecting your life.

How does counseling work?

During your initial appointment, we will get to know each other to ensure this is a good fit. I will also obtain information from you about your reason(s) for seeking counseling. This will help me to best identify what therapy treatment(s) will best meet your needs. From there, we will continue to build rapport and I will talk with you about various treatment options that will help to alleviate your symptoms. Because each person has different issues and goals for counseling, it will be different depending on the individual; therefore, I don’t consider myself a “cookie-cutter” therapist. I shape my therapeutic approach to your specific needs.

How long will I be in therapy?

Because each person’s circumstances are different, this will depend on many factors: your commitment, goals established and your level of motivation. As your therapist, I will check in with you often to determine if your symptoms have improved and if you are on track for meeting your goals.

What are your fees?
